Costa del Sol beaches get 1.3 million euros for February storm damage repairs

The central government money is part of a seven million euro package for emergency works in the areas that were worst affected by strong winds and high waves around the Spanish coastline

Cabinet ministers have authorised the allocation of 7.06 million euros (1.335m euros for the Costa del Sol) to carry out emergency works to repair the damage caused by the February storms in coastal areas of Andalucía, Valencia and Catalonia. The move follows a resolution of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
In Andalucía, work will be carried out in the provinces of Granada and Malaga.
In Malaga province this will include the beaches of Nerja (La Torrecilla, Chucho and Playazo); Torrox (Ferrara, Peñoncillo and Calaceite); Algarrobo; Vélez-Málaga (Torre del Mar, Chilches and Valle Niza); Rincón de la Victoria (El Rincón and Los Rubios); Malaga (Poniente de Guadalmar and Malagueta-Caleta); Torremolinos (Carihuela and Bajondillo); Benalmádena (Malapesquera and Santa Ana); Fuengirola (Santa Amalia and San Francisco); Mijas (Bombo and Calahonda); Marbella (Fontanilla, Casablanca and San Pedro de Alcántara); Estepona (El Cristo, Atalaya Isdabe, El Pirata, El Padrón, Salidillo, Benamara and Casasola); Manilva and Casares (Sabinillas, La Paloma and Ancha).
In the province of Granada, the repair work will be carried out on the beaches of Albuñol (La Rábita and El Pozuelo); Sorvilán (Melicena); Rubite (Casarones and El Lance) and Almuñécar (Cotobro), for which 1,198,000 euros will be allocated.
