Malaga Airport ended July with a 3.8 per cent increase in passengers

The busiest day in terms of intensity of traffic at the airport was Saturday 13 July, when 543 flights landed or took off

The airport which serves the Costa del Sol is seeing a continual increase in passenger numbers. The figures for July show that the month ended with 3.8 per cent more than in July. It has also been shown that 2,228,460 travellers arrived or departed on the 15,887 flights at this, Andalucía's biggest airport, last month.

The figures were provided earlier this week by Aena, the airports authority, and they included the statistics for the first seven months of 2019.

Between the beginning of January and the end of July, a total of 11,443,706 travellers passed through Malaga Airport. This was 5.9 per cent more than the same period last year.

In total, there were 84,062 flights to or from Malaga, which was an increase of 4.7 per cent compared with the same seven months of 2018.

The UK has remained the main destination for flights from Malaga, with 667,814 passengers arriving from of heading for airports there.

Germany, with 162,456 passengers registered, and France with 142,614, were the other principal markets for Malaga Airport in July.

The busiest day in terms of intensity of traffic at the airport was 13 July, which was a Saturday. On that day 543 flights landed or took off.

The busiest day so far this year in terms of passengers was last Sunday, when 77,757 people passed through the airport on that one day.
