Councillors in Marbella are planning to install three giant vertical gardens in prominent sites in the municipality. The aim is to improve the image of places with a lot of traffic and replace advertising hoardings with plants.
The three locations that will get the eye-catching displays of vegetation are; the bridge over the Golden Mile next to the Puente Romano Hotel; the footbridge over Avenida Cánovas del Castillo near the centre; and entrances to the road tunnel under the pedestrian Avenida del Mar near the old town.
The plant displays will be watered by a system that recycles unused irrigation water and will take two months to put up once the contract is awarded
The work has been put out to tender with a budget of 150,000 euros and it hoped that they will be installed by the spring.
