Marbella town hall has brought into force a series of restrictions to ensure the safety of the thousands of people who walk along the seafront promenade every day.

Until 15 September, bicycles and other personal mobility vehicles (segways, scooters, hoverboards etc) are only permitted on authorised cycle routes; they can only be brought onto the marble-paved stretch on the seafront promenade between La Fontanilla and the Plaza del Mar shopping centre if the user has dismounted.

Signs have gone up, warning cyclists and other personal mobility vehicle users to "dismount and walk" ('desmonte y ande') in the restricted areas. Alternative routes have also been signposted; the main one is the two-way cycle lane which runs along Calle Camilo José Cela.
