Welsh composer Karl Jenkins honoured in choir concert

On Sunday 26 May the choir and orchestra, Collegium Musicum Costa del Sol, directed by Annemarie Philipps, and the Camerata Singers from Sotogrande will be in concert in the Salón Real Hotel IPV Palace and Spa Fuengirola (doors 7.15pm for an 8pm start).

More than 100 singers and 50 musicians will perform works by the contemporary Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins (including Stabat Mater, a 13th-century hymn to Mary that portrays her suffering as the mother of Jesus during his crucifixion), Vivaldi and Bach.

The performance will be repeated at a charity concert on Tuesday, 28 May, 9.30pm in the Encarnación church in Marbella old town.
This is a benefit concert for the local AIDS charity, Concordia, which is headed by Princess Maria Luisa of Prussia. Entry by donation.
