It has been a historic week for sport in Gibraltar after the national football side immediately followed up their first ever competitive victory with another, seeing off both Armenia and Liechtenstein in the space of a week.

Gibraltar beat Armenia 1-0 in Yerevan on Saturday in the Nations League and received an apology from the hosts after the wrong national anthem was played beforehand.

Joseph Chipolina's 50th-minute penalty gave the visitors their first competitive victory in 23 matches, having lost all of their Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018 qualifiers since becoming a Uefa-affiliated team in 2013. The side's two previous victories, against Malta and Latvia, had come in friendly matches.

However, things got a lot better on Tuesday when Gibraltar made it two wins on the bounce, this time on home ground.

Despite going a goal down, 'Team 54' gave themselves a small chance of promotion from Group D4 with a comeback win over Liechtenstein with goals from George Cabrera and Chipolina.
