He may have been a shoe-in for a spot on the plane to Russia, but by being included in Julen Lopetegui's confirmed squad on Monday, Benalmádena-born Isco became only the third player from Malaga province in history to go to a World Cup.
The Real Madrid midfielder, who recently lifted the Champions League trophy, follows in the footsteps of Juanito (Argentina '78 and Spain '82), who scored a penalty in the latter, and Fernando Hierro, who played in every World Cup between 1990 and 2002.
Isco, after being granted an extended break alongside his Real teammates, joined up with the squad on Friday but was not involved in Sunday's friendly draw against Switzerland (1-1).
