Cercanías train users can now pay via their smartphone

The Renfe local rail service between Malaga and Fuengirola is now letting passengers pay for their journeys by the Cercanías smartphone app.

It means that people can buy their tickets in advance and they have no need to carry cash.

Instead they show the QR code display on their phone.

Previously, Cercanías tickets could only be bought on the day of travel.

The Cercanías services in Malaga, Cadiz and Seville now have this new service.
