The Palacio Solecio luxury boutique hotel in Calle Granada, in the historic city centre, opened on Thursday last week. The hotel, which will be run by the Marugal company, has been created in an 18th century building at a cost of 30 million euros.

It has 68 rooms and facilities including three meeting rooms, a gymnasium, bar and restaurant run by chef José Carlos García, who has been awarded a Michelin star for his restaurant in Malaga Port.

Sales manager Paloma Rando said the Palacio Solecio is a four-star hotel offering a five-star service.

The mansion, which was built in 1789, is thought to have been designed by architect José Martín de Aldehuela, who also designed the Puente Nuevo in Ronda, and retains some of its original features, such as the grand staircase and archways in the central patio.
