Ojén town council has started to compile information about the possible Nazi links of the late Juan Hoffmann, whose name was given to the square in front of the German school in Ojén.

The town's mayor, José Antonio Gómez, told SUR on Monday: "We do not want to make a hasty decision," with reference to calls for Hoffman's name to be removed because of his alleged links to Hitler's regime.

According to studies recently published in his homeland, the former diplomat, who established the German school, had been a member of both the Gestapo and the SS. This controversy saw his name removed from the school last year.
