The construction companies Sando and Acciona will be in charge of completing the previously abandoned works to build a metro line between the Perchel neighbourhood and Guadalmedina river. The works, which will begin at the end of July, are expected to take 19 and a half months, meaning the underground line would reach the city centre in 2020. The business partnership won the construction contract after it was decided that they would provide the best balance between technical expertise and investment. Works on the metro line, which will have a stop outside El Corte Inglés, initially began in 2009, but were abandoned three years ago.
