The 40,350 tonne, 604-passenger cruise ship, Seabourn Ovation, made its inaugural trips to both Malaga and Gibraltar last week.

In Malaga, more than 3,000 passengers visited the port area in one day as the Seabourn's arrival coincided with that of two other cruise ships.

Both places celebrated the ship's arrival with a reception on board with the captain.

Representatives from the Gibraltar Tourist Board, the Port Authority and local shipping agents MH Bland were in attendance at the British overseas territory, while Malaga city hall's department for tourism, port authority Cruceros Málaga and the business Cabeza Marítima joined the ceremony in the city of Malaga.

The ship, whose sister Seabourn Encore visited the province in August 2017, belongs to the Seabourn Cruise Line (part of the Carnival group).

It is classed as a luxury vessel and all passenger cabins have their own verandah.

British singer and actress Elaine Page launched the ship on 11 May in Valetta, Malta. It will visit the UK, Mediterranean and Northern Europe before eventually going on to the Baltic.
