The provisional recycling centre or 'punto limpio' set up next to Torremolinos bullring has been turned into an uncontrolled refuse tip due to misuse.

Set up in August 2015 to be used until a permanent centre is built, the facility consists of a series of skips where local residents can leave furniture, domestic appliances or garden waste, among other unwanted items. Its use is limited to private individuals, with a maximum amount of waste per person per day, although the authorities say that firms are dumping construction rubble and other waste alongside the containers.

The town hall has pointed out that firms could face fines of up to 1,500 euros if caught.
