Man hands in bag with 6,000 dollars left on bench by American tourist

An American visitor to Malaga has been reunited with her handbag containing a huge amount of cash thanks to the help of locals.

An unnamed man, who was out walking with his family in the park in the centre of Malaga one evening earlier this month, came across the bag on a bench. He then gave it to the nearest officers from the city's Local Police that he could find.

They were in the middle of another call and only realised a little later that the bag had 6,293 American dollars inside.

Seeing that it also contained a woman's personal documents, they checked with the cruise terminal, who said it wasn't from a passenger there. Thanks to a call to the embassy, the woman was identified and just 90 minutes after being found, it was back in her possession.
