The Gibraltar Post Office has started trialing two non-polluting e-assisted bikes this week, in collaboration with local company E-bikes Gibraltar.
The trial will last three months, and the minister for postal services, Vijay Daryanani, says it is important because it increases awareness of alternative forms of transport and will help to overcome the psychological barrier to getting people out of cars.
The e-bikes can carry letters and small packages and if the trial is successful the programme will be expanded.
Daryanani says he hopes other local businesses will follow suit.
