Gib international chess festival gets under way

The Gibraltar international chess festival began on Tuesday 22 January, and will continue until Thursday 31st.

Several star players are competing for the £25,000 first prize, including top seed Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, the sixth best player in the world.

With 14 of the players boasting ratings of 2700 or more, this year's competition promises to be even more exciting than usual.
