People in the Madrid region go to the polls next Tuesday (4 May) to choose a new regional president. The vote was called after sitting president, Isabel Ayuso, of the conservative PP ended her coalition with Ciudadanos.

Polls have repeatedly shown Ayuso with a strong lead over other parties but likely to need the support of Vox to form a majority regional government. Ciudadanos may not gain a single seat this time.

The second biggest party is expected to be the Socialist PSOE with Unidas Podemos under ex- deputy PM, Pablo Iglesias, polling fewer than Vox.
