Two Algerian men aged 38 and 51 have been arrested in Marbella, accused of having robbed a tourist in Elviria on 29 October using the so-called 'Ronaldinho' method. This consists of pretending to explain to the victim how to 'dribble' a football, then grabbing him, trying to pull him to the ground and stealing anything of value he is carrying.
The men were detained after a police patrol in Elviria spotted them struggling with an elderly man, who they then pushed to the ground. One of the thieves was arrested on the spot, while the other, who was trying to run to a car parked nearby, was caught a few metres away.
The police recovered the man's mobile phone, among other belongings, and the men have been charged with carrying out a robbery with violence.
A search of the car revealed 195 euros in cash, a frequency inhibitor, caps, hats and maps of the area.
