The video surveillance commission of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalucía (TSJA) has ruled that the installation of CCTV cameras, 57 of which are in Puerto Banús, proposed by Marbella town hall are excessive.

According to town hall sources, 15 locations proposed have been rejected out of the total 76.

Cameras in areas around Muelle De Ribera, Plaza Antonio Banderas, Avenida Julio Iglesias and the port have been approved as they meet suitability requirements. However, in both Puerto Banús and the Puerto Deportivo marina, neither the recorded crime rates nor the cameras' potential impact on privacy justify the installation of so many cameras, according to the TSJA.
