Around 500 watersport enthusiasts were welcomed to Marbellas beaches as part of the annual Solmarina Semana Náutica, which ended last weekend. The two-week-long event, now in its sixth year, was organised by the association of western Costa del Sol municipalities.

The events we have organised have proven the potential of the Costa del Sol to attract visitors 365 days a year, as our waters can offer much more than just a normal beach holiday, commented Margarita del Cid, one of the festivals organisers.

One of the biggest events to take place was the jet-ski race which drew 90 competitors. Sailing, paddlesurfing and fishing events were also on offer for visitors throughout the two weeks.

Marbella councillor for Tourism, Javier Porcuna, spoke about how the event was good promotion for the town too. These high-profile events help to show the best of what Marbella can offer and also attract large numbers of spectators, he said.
