Frigiliana's foreigners' department reopened earlier this month and information is available in Spanish, English and French. The post, which had been previously held by Briton Kevin Wright on and off for a number of years, has been filled by Javier León. Javier was given the job after successfully passing the 'oposiciones' or civil service exams, in January this year.
Frigiliana Town Hall says that Javier's appointment provides "stability" to a department which has not been permanent and has not had consistent funding in the past.
The town hall also says the department will help "one third of the town's population," which is the percentage of foreigners that currently live in the village.
The foreigners' department is inviting all foreign residents to take part in activities and encouraging people to register on the 'Padrón'. To contact the department, email: extranjeros@frigiliana.es or phone 951 70 76 59.
