Dinner raises 30,000 euros
The Guy Fawkes charity party hosted by Sandro Morelli at Villa Tiberio raised 30,000 euros for the Cruz Roja (Red Cross) and Cudeca, two charities close to the Marbella restaurateur's heart.
"I will never stop supporting these charities as they help so many children and adults," said Morelli. He donated 25 euros from each ticket sale plus all the money raised from the raffle and auction.
Morelli also praised his team, headed by Caroline Randerson. Guests enjoyed cocktails before a three-course dinner. Live entertainment, dancing and the celebrity item auction contributed to a very special evening, which ended with fireworks and two charities with more funds to help the needy.
Fashion show success
Recently Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar, held its Autumn Fashion Show at the ecumenical centre. On arrival, around a hundred international friends were greeted with a free drink, after which they were shown 71 outfits of new and nearly-new clothing and accessories. The outfits were modelled by eight friends of the centre. The show, set to background music, was compered by Rob Bell. Karen from Oasis styled the models' hair and the photographer was Alan Hartley.
Due to the success of the event the centre is already planning its spring and summer fashion show, which will take p lace in April 2019.
Fundación CLC World
15,000 raised for the AECC
Representatives of Fundación CLC World handed over a cheque for 15,000 euros to the AECC (the Spanish Cancer Association) last Friday. The funds were raised by the staff of CLC World Resorts & Hotels during a campaign that ran throughout the month of October.
At the presentation the director of the foundation, Juan Miguel Marcos, said that the funds raised would help reduce the impact of cancer and improve the lives of patients and their families. "With this donation CLC World employees wanted to support the AECC in all its projects and join the fight against this disease," he said.
The presentation was also attended by the provincial manager of AECC, Pedro González; the president of AECC Mijas, Fuengirola and Benalmádena, Paula Casas; and the director of AECC Marbella, Juan Carlos Domínguez. González said that the funds would go towards the creation of a day centre in Marbella and the apartments programme for patients and their relatives.
