Following the success of the first two editions, The Soul Train Tour will stop off again in Fuengirola this year. The third edition of the disco music event will present the hits of Earth, Wind and Fire, and Kool & the Gang - two of the most innovative and commercially successful acts of all time.
The concert brings together a cast of extraordinary musicians known as the Cool Fire Band, a Malaga-based ensemble fronted by the charismatic Oscar Roots, former lead singer of popular electro-jazz outfit Acid Filter. It was while on a tour with his former band that Roots, originally from Madrid, fell in love with Malaga, where he settled and formed his disco tribute band.
Roots possesses an incredible vocal range and is capable of hitting the falsetto notes of Philip Bailey, and reproducing the funk-infused voice of James JT Taylor.
The band has gained a reputation on the Costa del Sol for its spectacular show, complete with dancers and all the razzmatazz of the disco era. The repertoire is full of classic dance-floor hits, like Boogie Wonderland (EWF), and Kool & the Gang's Lets Go Dancing (Ooh La La La).
The event will also include guest artists performing the music of other legends of black music who rose to fame after appearing on the cult American music programme Soul Train.
The two-hour concert will be held in the Palacio de la Paz auditorium on Saturday 17 April. Show starts at 7pm.
Tickets cost 15 euros and are available from www.eventbrite.es
Capacity restrictions and Covid regulations will apply.
