The signing of Esteban Granero last week sent shockwaves across the footballing world. The former Real Madrid midfielder left Espanyol to drop two divisions to join Marbella. "This is unheard of in Segunda B," said the club's director general, Héctor Morales.

"Most of all we hope he can help us on the sporting side of things, but of course we hope now we can fill our stadium every fortnight."

Granero was officially presented at the Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas stadium on Monday, as part of "one of the most ambitious projects in Spanish football", as described by Tomás Grauch who introduced the player.

"Primera is on the horizon," said Óscar Ribot, CEO of Best of You, the company spearheading the project.

For his part, Granero said: "I have come here because I'm hungry for success. We want promotion to Segunda and to dream big."
