The Rubén Alcántara skate park in Malaga was packed to the rafters for the climax of the Vans BMX Pro Cup which returned to the city once more this weekend.
Following two days of qualifying rounds and semi-finals in which the atmosphere was good but attendance low, fans from far and wide queued for hours to watch the grand final and catch a glimpse of the biggest stars in action, namely Chase Hawk and Larry Edgar.
Hawk, who won the Malaga leg of the tour last year, is something of a crowd favourite and wowed those inside the park with some almost impossible manoeuvres. This won him the support of both the fans and the judges, crowning him champion in Malaga once more.
For his part, reigning champion Edgar was a lot more conservative (especially compared to the likes of Alex Hiam, Dennis Enarson, Pat Casey and Kevin Peraza), but this was enough for him to retain his title overall.
It was also a positive competition for a number of local competitors with Alejandro 'Pitu' Ibarra and Miguel Cuesta reaching the final, with both putting in strong performances to show their comfort among the world's elite.
Likewise, Cadiz-born Alejandro Vela claimed the prize for the highest jump in the final.
