Unicaja built on their sky-high confidence on Sunday with a crushing 93-69 home victory over Morabanc Andorra.

Joan Plazas side presented the EuroCup trophy to the home faithful before the game, and used the momentum that they had built up from the historic triumph to overpower Morabanc Andorra.

However, the first quarter of the match did not go to plan, as a reckless and ill-disciplined Unicaja conceded 27 points in the first ten minutes and failed to lead at any point in the first quarter. Only baskets from Jamar Smith prevented the visitors from breaking away, with the first quarter ending 27-25 to the visitors.

Unforced errors continued to a lesser extent in the second quarter for Unicaja, but it did not stop pivot Giorgi Shermadini from regularly setting up duo Andrew Albicy and David Jelínek to score, putting further pressure on the hosts.

Morabanc Andorras excellent display drew a reaction from the Malaga side, who upped their game from rebounds and used their substitutes to great effect to get back into the game. Dani Díezs excellent work after coming off the bench, in addition to Alberto Díazs introduction, saw them make life more difficult for the visitors going forward, which consequently led to Unicaja taking the lead and going into half time 45-38 up.

Unicaja really took over in the third quarter and used their best offensive weapon, three-pointers, to widen the gap between the two sides. Smith and Jeff Brooks scored at the start of the quarter to put Unicaja into a 56-45 lead, before Kyle Fogg, who scored 24 points in 20 minutes, shattered the visitors defence by scoring eight consecutive points, giving Plazas side a ten-point advantage going into the final quarter.

Fogg could do no wrong on the day and maintained his scoring streak with some spectacular baskets. Andorra never gave up but there was little they could do given Foggs form, with six of the Americans seven three-point attempts resulting in baskets. Unicaja increased their lead to 20 points with just two minutes remaining, before going on to record a 93-69 victory.

Up next for Plaza's side is the visit of Iberostar Tenerife on Wednesday night.
