The long-awaited expansion of the Costa del Sol Hospital will have to wait, but in the meantime the Junta de Andalucía regional government will spend 2.8 million euros on a series of works to be completed by the end of the year.
The works being carried out include the extension of the Emergencies department, which will see the number of emergency observation beds increased and the incorporation of new multipurpose consultation rooms.
A new thousand-square-metre space will also be created, housing the outpatient Cardiopathy and Urology clinics, freeing up space for other services.
These plans were announced last week by Minister of the Presidency of the Andalusian regional government Elías Bendodo.
