District conference AGM

The Royal British Legion District Spain South held their annual general meeting in Torremolinos on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by members of RBL branches from Gibraltar, Marbella, Coín, Torremolinos, Mijas Costa and Mollina.

The event began with a parade of the district and branch standards, followed by opening prayers by the Reverend Doreen Cage.

This year's guest speakers were Gary Ryan, Director of Remembrance and Marketing, and Bob Chambers, Overseas Representative.

CC International Bridge Marbella

First day for new bridge club

The CC International Bridge Club Marbella association opened for the first day on 30 December.

The purpose-built bridge room has the latest electronic bridge scoring “bridgemate” and large screen TV monitor for instant results.

Lux Mundi

Excursion to Granada

Recently a group of friends of Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar, embarked on a three-day excursion to Granada to see the Christmas lights.

They first took a trip to the Sierra Nevada, where it had snowed heavily the previous day; they walked around, drank coffee and watched the skiers.

Some people visited the Alhambra while others took the tourist train, taking in the cathedral, San Nicolas view point and the Basilica of San Juan de Dios and Sacramonte.

The group stayed in the Hotel Carmen in the centre of the city for the two nights.

Mijas Bowling Club

Three Kings Fun Day

The club members all wore crowns for the pairs and singles competition on 7 January to celebrate Three Kings Day. The prize for the best crown went to Carol Wright.

After some very close games Steve Toone and Josie Bloom were announced as winners.

Next came the singles competition which was a knockout and the last two standing were husband and wife Val and Tony Thornton.

Annual general meeting

The annual general meeting of the Costa Press Club took place on Wednesday, 17 January at Vegetalia restaurant in Los Boliches.

With a high turnout of members, good conversation and excellent food, club president Jesper Sander Pedersen welcomed several new members who joined last year and others joining in January.

The Costa Press Club is the association for international writers and media professionals on the coast. www.costapressclub.com
