Gibraltar Customs officers had to come to the rescue of a 40-ft yacht which was in difficulties on Monday evening. Its steering had failed and it was drifting towards rocks near Sandy Bay. The couple on board could not lower the sail or lift the anchor. The officers boarded the sloop, cut its anchor, climbed the mast to adjust it and were then able to tow the vessel to safety.
