Construction on Malaga's new Academy, in the Arraijanal part of the city, close to the airport, could restart within a month.

According to SUR sources, the club hopes to receive the around 4.5 million euros needed to finance the remainder of the project before the end of January.

The stumbling block has been finance tied up in land owned by the club in El Viso which is being bought to form part of the expansion of the University of Malaga.

Though the sale was agreed several years ago, red tape has held up the process and the club's relegation from La Liga has meant that alternative funding could not be found.
