In its first month of operation, the mobile app 'Marbella Limpia' (Clean Marbella), has received well over 1,000 alerts from local residents who have used this new communication tool to let the town hall know when parts of the resort need cleaning.
The aim is to alert street cleaners immediately to problems. So far an average of 45 messages a day are being received. The number of downloads of the app to date is over 550.
The service runs from 8am to 10pm but the app can be accessed 24 hours. The rapid response team has five vehicles and 20 dedicated staff and users can follow progress in real time.
The council is hoping for 2,000 downloads by the end of the year.
