This year's Pedal Day, organised to encourage people to take up cycling, will be raising funds for Sarah, an 18-year-old girl from Marbella, who had her hands and feet amputated after suffering sepsis. Her family needs money to buy prostheses.

Pedal Day is this Sunday, 25 November. It is organised by two cycling associations, MarbellaByCivic and La Vereita, with support from the local council.

There will be an information desk about the condition at the starting line of the event, and wristbands will be sold to raise money. The organisers have also joined the #PalanteconSarah campaign.

Those taking part in the event will leave Plaza del Mar at 10.30am and cycle along Avenida Ricardo Soriano before returning along the seafront. Those interested in participating can register on the council website (
