ACE (Animal Care España) will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a series of events, starting with a special party night at the Snack Attack restaurant in La Cala de Mijas on Saturday 14 September. Tickets for the event, which is sponsored by Ibex Insurance, cost 20 euros (10 euros for children under 12) and will include paella (mixed or vegetarian) and live music and entertainment.

The event starts at 7pm, while at 8pm, guests will be entertained by Dragtastic, the coast's most popular family drag show.

Ten euros from each ticket sale will be donated to the charity. There will also be a raffle with prizes supplied by local businesses and organisations.

ACE, also known as Spanish Honden in Need (SHIN) was founded in December 1999 by Belgian animal lover Fabienne Paques and Dutchman Ton van den Broek. Fabienne decided to do something about the pitiful situation of the stray and abandoned dogs in the Mijas area, many of whom were destroyed at the El Refugio killing station. She began by renting kennels at the refuge, where she took care of hundreds of neglected and abused animals.

Fabienne and Ton now rent all the kennels at the former killing station and they have transformed it into the current shelter where the animals receive care and attention and the chance of a new home.

Over the past 20 years, ACE has found homes for more than 13,000 dogs in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Finland and Denmark, and it has become one of the most experienced rescue organisations in Spain.

Tickets for the anniversary party are available from the Snack Attack restaurant, the Ibex offices in Fuengirola and from the ACE shelter in Mijas.
