The recent publication of a feature about walking football in SUR has spurred the Blue Sky Marbella Marbella League into producing an application to the Junta de Andalucía to have walking football officially recognised as a sport.
Information will be gathered from authorities in the UK detailing the health and social benefits of walking football. What’s more, ex-footballers like Alan Kennedy, who plays walking football, and football commentators in Spain, such as Michael Robinson and Vinny Samways, will be asked to assist the application by giving their backing.
