A group of investors from Bahrain are behind a project for a new five-star hotel and residential development in the Arroyo Siete Revueltas area of Marbella, close to the Costa del Sol Hospital. The land is one of the few prime sites in eastern Marbella by the sea and the A-7 coast road that has still to be developed and lies between the Los Monteros and Alicate Playa areas.

The 129-room hotel will be set in landscaped gardens along the dry stream bed, which will be open to the public, and a walkway will link existing, neighbouring developments. As well as the three-storey hotel, which will face towards the sea, upmarket villas and apartments for sale are also planned.

The Gulf-based consortium, including firms such as Famcorp and Almatrook, already has investments believed to be over a billion euros. They are applying to the Junta de Andalucía regional government to have planning development fast-tracked as part of a scheme announced last year to give priority to projects deemed of strategic importance to the area's economy.

Currently the land still has to be reclassified for development before it can be built on and the project is in the early stages.
