  • The regional government has said it wants construction work to begin on the 80-million-euro project before the end of this year

It will be some time before Alhaurín el Grande is able to comply with the regulations.

It was promised its own sewage plant at one time, but this never materialised and the current plan is for the town to be connected to the one planned for the Malaga metropolitan area, the EDAR Malaga Norte, which will also serve Cártama and Alhaurín de la Torre.

This is still in the planning stage, although the regional government has said it wants construction work to begin on the 80 million euro project before the end of this year.It will be located north of the airport and will have the capacity to serve a population of up to 280,000 inhabitants.
