Two important figures from 20th century Antequera can now be found on a bench in the town's Plaza San Sebastián.

José Antonio Muñoz Rojas, one of Andalucía's most renowned poets and writers of the last century, sits opposite José María Fernández, who for years recorded local history.

After the death of his wife and children, Fernández lived in solitude and was forgotten.

Only five people turned up at his funeral, one of them Muñoz Rojas, whose calls for recognition for his fellow 'Antequerano' have at last been heeded.
