Over 650 women visit the specialist diabetes and pregnancy departments at Malaga's Carlos Haya and Clínico Universitario hospitals each year. Women with gestational diabetes are given personalised diet and exercise plans to help them control their glucose levels. However studies show that this type of diabetes is not permanently cured.

Experts highlight how important it is for a woman who has suffered gestational diabetes to live a healthy life and eat a healthy diet.
