There is some light at the end of the tunnel for Spanish basketball. The Assembly of Liga ACB voted this week on a format to conclude the season: the current top 12 of the league's 18 teams will compete in a play-off in a neutral venue, starting provisionally on 15 June.
The 12 teams have been divided into groups of six, with Unicaja paired with Barcelona, Tenerife, Bilbao, Baskonia and Joventut. Each side will play each other once before the top two in each group contest a semi-final for a place in the final against the winner of the other group.
It was also decided that no teams will be relegated this year, opening up the possibility of a 20-team top flight next season.
