The selection headache for Malaga coach Juan Ramón Muñiz ahead of Sunday's trip to Gijón to take on Sporting was eased somewhat on Wednesday by the news that forward Gustavo Blanco Leschuk's second yellow card was rescinded following an appeal.

The Argentinian will be available for selection, but not Alfred N'Diaye. His red card has not been rescinded, but his ban has been reduced from two games to one. This came after the Senegalese released a statement on Monday. He said: "I offer my apologies to everyone - the fans and to the children who were in the stadium for my behaviour. It was a bad reaction to a rival player who was provoking us and had disrespected my teammate. All I can say is that I'm sorry because it was not a good example to set for others."

N'Diaye won't travel to Gijón, but he will be available for the visit of Nàstic on Saturday 17 November having not been called up by his national team.

It was not such good news for the other players who picked up their fifth yellow card of the season in Pamplona. Adrián, Federico Ricca and Javier Ontiveros are all suspended, joining a growing list of possible absentees with Mamadou Koné, Jack Harper and Juanpi and Álex Mula all in the treatment room.

What's more, full-back Juankar has been ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery on his cruciate ligaments.

Right-back Cifu has returned to training and could be an option for Sunday, likewise youth team midfielder Keidi Baré who is being tipped for a start in the absence of first-choice holding midfielders Adrián and N'Diaye.
