Police warn of technique used by burglars to monitor targeted homes

National Police have sent out a warning regarding a new burglary trend currently in action around Malaga.

A group of criminals from Eastern Europe is placing small pieces of plastic or thread on doors of properties they consider most likely to contain jewellery or cash (those inhabited by middle-aged people or older).

When they return days later to see the plastic or thread is still there, they know that the property is unoccupied and break in undisturbed.

Properties were especially targeted over the holiday period. Occupants of apartment blocks or estates are being urged to keep an eye out, especially on doors of neighbours who are away.
