Western Costa renews water provision deal with Campo de Gibraltar

A deal which secures a minimum of seven cubic hectometres of drinking water for the western Costa del Sol has been renewed for another four years.

The agreement, struck in 2013 between the Mancomunidad of the western Costa del Sol and that of the Campo de Gibraltar, helps to top up the area's supply of drinking water, which relies almost exclusively on increasingly undersupplied La Concepción reservoir in Marbella.

At an annual cost of 1.5 million euros (0.215309 euros per cubic metre), the water is transferred each year when the supply for the Campo de Gibraltar area is assured.
