The Costa del Sol Health Agency has entered into the final phase of the process to revive the Costa del Sol Hospital expansion project which has been at a standstill since 2010, according to regional Health minister Marina Álvarez.
Álvarez, who presided over the presentation of the Andalusian health service's new investigation, development and innovation strategy in Malaga on Monday, said that the administrative process to resolve the issues with the present contractor is close to completion and that by September the project to complete the works could be put out to tender.
The original project had a budget of 48.5 million euros; half complete, it is estimated that the remaining works will take between 18 and 24 months to complete.
Works stopped in 2010 after the concession holder, Costa del Sol SA, was refused permission by Marbella town hall to construct the car park from which the company had expected to use the profits to help fund the project.
