  • The local lifeguard service takes note of parents' contact details which are only used if a child, or elderly person, gets lost

The town hall's lifeguard units on Marbella's beaches are operating an extra service to help reunite families with lost children as quickly as possible.

Wristbands are available for youngsters and for elderly family members who could be at risk of getting lost among the crowds on the beach.

Councillor Miguel Díaz explained how the wristbands are available at each of the 15 lifeguard posts along the coastline.

Each wristband has a code and this is noted down along with information including the mobile phone numbers of the adults accompanying the children, as well as the age and other characteristics of the child.

"It is a simple for effective system," said the councillor.

The wristbands are free of charge and water-resistant and should be replaced every day.
