The Salón Varietés Theatre in Fuengirola has announced that the theatre will not now reopen in September as planned. Theatre organisers had intended to kick off the new post-lockdown season with four Prince tribute concerts beginning on 3 September. Other planned performances included tribute shows to Cliff Richards and The Carpenters, a dance spectacular and a country and western show starring Johnny G. A spokesperson for the theatre said that the shows had been cancelled because ticket sales had been "disappointingly poor".
The theatre is offering a refund on tickets, or they can be exchanged for any future shows.
The opening will now take place on October 14th, with a special production of Evita, a show that had originally been planned for the theatre's 35th anniversary celebration.
