The Cervantes Theatre in Malaga has some spectacular shows planned over the Christmas period.

Today, Friday 22 December, is a concert by the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra of Handel's / Mozart's Messiah with soprano Isabel Monar, mezzosoprano Marta Infante and baritone Thomas Laske. It starts at 9pm.

The San Petersburg Army choir, ballet and orchestra will be returning again this year to perform at the theatre. With over one hundred musicians, dancers and singers, they will be performing dances and songs from traditional Russian folklore. The show is on Boxing Day, 26 December at 5.30pm.

Following the San Petersburg Army Choir will be the Alabama Gospel Choir. They will be singing a variety of gospel songs reflecting the influence of Negro Spirituals and African slave music mixed with funk and blues. The curtain goes up at 9.30pm on 26 December.

More rousing music is planned for 27 December with the Cinema Symphony Orchestra which will be performing tracks from the biggest Hollywood films. The concert starts at 5.30pm.

At 9.30pm the same day, Queenie, the Queen tribute band, will be in concert. The powerful ballads of Freddie Mercury, the universally known anthems that took Queen to the top of the charts many times over the last forty years are faithfully reproduced by what is billed as 'The Best World Queen Tribute Band'.

Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra is back at the Cervantes Theatre on 3 January at 8pm for the Special New Year's Concert.
