The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society presents ‘A Celebration of Opera’ at the Convent Ballroom on 16 May at 8pm. The concert is sponsored and organised on behalf of the Ministry of Culture.

Following huge successes over the past seasons with its opera concerts, the society has decided to repeat the formula which proved so effective with two accomplished voices singing popular operatic arias accompanied by a pianist.

Russian soprano Elena Gorshunova has won several international awards and tenor Rudy Park (Ji Eung Park) won the Wilde Awards Best Performance in 2004 for his interpretation of Calaf in Turandot among many other awards.

The two singers, accompanied by pianist Cristina Altamura, promise a most elegant spring concert in Gibraltar.

The programme includes arias by Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti, Leoncavallo, Gounod, Puccini and Bellini.

Tickets priced at £20 are available from Sacarello’s coffee shop - restaurant in Irish Town and The Silver Shop at 222 Main Street or online at

A limited number of tickets at £10 are available to senior citizens and students via the John Mackintosh Hall at 308 Main Street.
