Parents' associations from several schools in Mijas have come together to organise a march to raise awareness of the growing problem of overcrowding in their schools. The action was organised after a letter was sent out by AMPA El Torreón, the parents' association at La Cala de Mijas secondary school.

Representatives of the association met with María Lozano Ibero, provincial secretary general for Education, on Monday in order to air their concerns.

"The march will begin from El Olmo School in La Cala de Mijas at 9pm on Wednesday 4 March.

We want the authorities to really see the situation, look at the lack of facilities and to act now," president of AMPA El Torreón Sandy Wright told SUR in English.
