A dog being trained to assist a disabled teenager from Estepona has been stolen at gunpoint, just a day before it was due to be collected.
The dog's trainer, from the Bocalán foundation, was walking Pocahontas, a black labrador, in the streets of Aranjuez, near Madrid, on Tuesday when four armed men got out of a van and demanded his wallet. After he handed it over, with 60 euros inside, they grabbed the dog and put her in the van.
Pocahontas was being specially trained to be a companion for Estepona resident Clara, 15, who has spinal muscular atrophy. Clara and her family were due to travel to Toledo this week to collect her. A reward of 800 euros has been offered for the return of the dog.
