The council in Estepona has decided to take the initiative in recovering the 330 hectares (3.3 square kilometres) burned in last week's forest fire.
It has announced that it will set aside funds in the 2020 budget to start to replant lost trees, although it hasn't given a specific amount.
However, environmental group, Ecologistas en Acción, has criticised the council's apparent haste. They say the ground needs to be able to regenerate naturally, without human interference.
